Rouzbeh Akhbari 〰️
Rouzbeh Akhbari (b.1992, Tehran) is an artist working in video installation and film based between Toronto and Lisbon. His practice is research-driven and usually exists at the intersections of story-telling, political ecology, critical border studies, and human geography. Through a delicate examination of the violences and intimacies that occur at the boundaries of lived experience and constructed histories, Akhbari uncovers the minutiae of power that organize and regiment the world around us. He was trained in sculpture and installation at OCAD University and holds a Masters of Visual Studies from Daniels School of Architecture, Landscape and Design. He also attended Jan Van Eyck academie in 2020, and is currently a PhD candidate at University of Toronto’s school of Geography and Planning. Akhbari is one half of Pejvak, a long-term collaborative duo with Felix Kalmenson.
